Do you want to get started in the creative world of crafting?  You need to know what tools you will need to get started.  Well you have come to the right place.

Starting out

I came up with my own list as a man.  My list might be different than a female crafter’s point of view.  But I believe you will find a lot of items have crossover appeal.  Now you don’t need to go in to debt on a shopping spree to buy the whole list.  Just add to you supplies as you need them.  For example my first purchase was the Cricut, which was my biggest.  Also I have on my wish list to add a wood lathe.  I haven’t purchased it yet because it can be a little pricey.

My tool box

1. The first one of the top craft tools is one that can fill many areas of a crafter’s needs and wants.  It is a vinyl cutter. I personally use the Cricut Explore Air 2. Click here to see it.

One of the many feature I love  the ability to upload your own images to use in their Cricut Design Space online software to create personalized, professional looking DIY craft projects. It also prints printable images and a print then cut feature.

2. The next item is edger scissors.

The ones I use are School Smart edger scissors. They add attractive edges to paper, greeting cards, photos and more. They are strong plastic scissors with stainless steel blades. High quality scissors with stainless steel blades. Great for scrap booking and crafting.

3. Straight scissors.

After cutting all those intricate edges with your edgers, there are times you need to just do a straight cut. If you need to trim your vinyl or cut off excess material.

The scissors I love are the Singer 4.5 inch professional series. These small and precise 4 ½-inch detail scissors are made for professionals and sewing enthusiasts alike.

The NANO Tip point of the shears is specially crafted for embroidery and detail work, and the rubberized comfort grip handles allow the user to craft without pinching or rubbing. Each pair comes with a lifetime guarantee.

4. Any crafter is going to need markers.

I use the brilliant bees chalk markers. They are For use on surfaces such as: Metal/plastic/glass, Whiteboards ,Mirrors ,Windows Chalk labels ,Plastic storage containers, Menu boards, Car windows, Fridge surfaces And so much more!

The markers are non-toxic and safe for children to use on any non-porous surface…. without the mess.  What parent/adult doesn’t like the ideas of less mess.

5. Another necessary tool is double sided sticky tape. I use Extreme mounting tape. It is a Double-sided, high-density foam heavy duty adhesive mounting tape; best for projects where typical fasteners won’t work and you need a clear finish.

I am sure your tool box is different than mine.  We all have our own needs and wants and mine are certainly different than yours.

What are your top craft tools.  I’d like to know.
