What are Mod Podge uses?

After posting my last blog post about Personalized Christmas mugs.  I came across a product that would benefit my designs durability.  That product is the well known Mod Podge.  My first question was what is it and what are Mod Podge uses?

I didn’t realize is that there are several different formulations available.  If you are a crafter there is a Mod Podge formula to suit your needs.  You want to know what is Mod Podge?  Read below:

For those not familiar with this miracle invention.  Mod Podge is a milky white glue liquid that dries transparent in less than 10 minutes.  Use it as a finish for your découpage projects.

It seals and glues in one application.  Clean up is easy as you can wipe up spills with a damp cloth.  Most applications require two or three coats.   Mod Podge is available in a variety of finishes and sizes.

Please see the item specifications  for helpful information regarding application and coverage specifics.  Before you read this check out this blog craft. from mommalovescoffee.com

Matte finish

— Choose this Mod Podge product when you are looking for a finish that isn’t shiny.
Mod Podge dries clear in approximately 10 minutes.  Apply with brush or sponge applicator.  I personally like using the sponge or foam brush.

Make sure to close your container tightly after each use.  It is a glue which can dry out.   Easy clean up with water while the product is still wet. Once it has dried, Mod Podge can’t be removed.

You can also use it as a puzzle saver, a sealant glue, a quick finish for an art piece, a textured finish or a build-up finish.” It is Non-toxic.
Uses:
For use as a glue for paper, fabric, and other porous materials
Also can be used as a sealer for wood, paper, and prints
And as a finish for printed material, decoupage, and fabric.
functions as a painting medium for water-based paint.

Fabric Formula

Decoupage on fabric with this special formula. Use it to apply paper prints or fabric pieces to clothing, totes, banners, and more.

When Fabric Mod Podge is used as a sealant, embellished items are machine washable in a cold-water gentle cycle after 3-4 days.  This is  an exciting new way to repurpose your old clothes and areas around your home.

Designs are permanent.  You can hand wash finished projects with soap and water.
Quick-drying formula allows for multiple coat build up.   Treated projects will dry to a clear finish.
Cleans up easily with soap and water.
Certified AP non-toxic and water based.

.
Antique Matte Finish

— Give any surface an antique older appearance with this special Mod Podge product.

Sparkle Finish

— This is the same all-purpose performance product of Mod Podge original with the added bonus of sparkle finish.

Gloss Finish

— This is the original Mod Podge product like the matte finish but with a lustrous, glossy appearance.

Super Gloss Finish

— This Mod Podge adds a super shiny, glass-like finish to your project. No special tools are needed for a smooth, brushstroke-free application

Next brings us to the formula that brought lasting durability to my Personlized mug designs as featured in this blog post.  It was super to apply on my designs.  I personally used a foam brush for application.   Because it erases a lot of the typical brush strokes that you get when using a traditional brush with Mod podge.

Mod Podge Dishwasher safe

It is very easy to use.  When you are finished with your craft and applications your piece is top-rack dishwasher safe.  The Mod Podge  dries to a hard finish.  As with the other formulas this one is water based and Non-Toxic.

To let the mod Podge cure, the recommendation is to wait 28 days before using it or washing it on the top rack of the dishwasher.   When crafting your project,  personally I would still place your design and Mod Podge seal at least a half inch below the lip line of the mug or glass.  Just being cautious.

This is the mug before the application.
