As it gets closer to Christmas, countless people start thinking about ways to make some extra cash for the holiday spending they anticipate. There are some craft for the holidays ideas out there. Many are looking for craft ideas that sell easily because there are crafts fairs or bazaars where they can set up. While selling crafts may be a good way to bring in money to help pay for some of the Holiday spending, if you wait  to long to start making crafts, you have probably started too late.

However, if you’re serious about making crafts which sell easily or even help as gifts, think about what crafts you love to make and that people give you compliments about. If you choose to make a craft simply because it sells well, you’ll soon lose interest. Without a sufficient quantity to begin with, there’s no sense in setting up a booth or table to try to sell your work. The ideas of  creation and the wealth of craft supplies that are available to us now is enormous. Those resources can and should be utilized to create innovative products.

Use ideas that appeal to women

Think about things that are useful and wanted.  Women can be easy to craft for Holidays but they can also be very difficult to figure out.  Speaking from a male perspective it is hard to read a woman’s mind.  It is a dang near impossible task.  One which I gave up on trying a long time ago.  I have gained a valuable skill for the ultimate survival of the male race.  I have learned to listen to those subtle but loud hints that my wife will offer up through the year.  It is still a hard skill to master nut Im getting better at it.

Hand-crocheted dishcloths are often a good seller in many areas.  If that talent is in your wheel house you can expect to make a lot of happy customers.

Handmade jewelry is another item which might sell well. Homemade handbags are particularly popular with women in some areas of the country. Even purchasing a canvas bag and decorating it with custom vinyl cutouts.

Etching is another technique that can be used to create many items to sell. As you delve in to the world of etching you will find that you can make some of the most beautiful objects by using etching as a technique. Many people will be admiring your craft and they may even not believe that you are able to make such eye catching designs

Don’t forget the men

While you’re at it, think about things men could use. (Hint Hint) They’re usually dragged around crafts fairs by their partners and rarely find anything for themselves. If they find a handmade hunting vest with plenty of pockets or bullet holders, they’d probably snatch it up. They might also be interested in masculine-looking jewelry.  If you plan right the men might just be your biggest spenders.

Walking sticks are fairly easy to make as well.  They appeal to men as well as women.  Go for a hike and pick up unusual, sturdy sticks. Strip the outer layer of bark off of them. Then you can put a finish on them and place rubber tips on the ends. If you’re very good at carving you could also carve an image before putting a finish on them.

Home Decor

Hand-dipped candles are also usually a good seller. Candles aren’t difficult to make but they do take quite a bit of time to do. If you choose to decorate them it will take a little longer.

Handmade soap is a great seller at most crafts fairs or bazaars. Make some which are geared toward women using feminine scents such as floral or citrus. You’ll also want to have some masculine-smelling soap available for the men in the family.  Here is a great link to soap making.

Find crafts which are easy to make which will enable you to have a good quantity built up before a craft show, fair or bazaar. The more items you have on-hand, the more items you can sell in one day or over the course of a weekend. You may also choose to make something which can be made while you’re at the craft fair. By doing this, you’ll be replenishing your stock during the slow times.

T-shirts are an easy product to dress up and make them classy.  If you have access to a computer, printer and a Cricut or Sihlouette the sky is the limit.  You will be able to create so many countless designs that your customers will just rave over.  Taking custom T-shirt orders is another way to boost up your earnings potential.

Embellish inexpensive flip flops. Even though many people are thinking with their winter Christmas brain, they can still buy for the coming months, and flip flops are a popular item. Add ribbons, flowers, charms or gem stones with hot glue.
