My mom is famous for misplacing her phone and not being able to keep it in a set place. To be honest I am the same way. So to help fix our problem, I modified this cool little craft to create a cell phone frame to  suit our needs.

To build this cell phone frame, I used a pair of old jeans, an embroidery hoop, and scissors. I also I used my Cricut Explore with some t-shirt vinyl to add a personal touch. I love how it turned out and so did my mom. This is how I did it.

To begin, I measured around the pocket of the jeans with the embroiderycut out pocket hoop and added about a half inch to allow room for error. After marking the measurements, I used the scissors to cut out the pocket in a circle shape. I left the excess half inch of material, so the pocket could be trimmed once inside the embroidery hoop if needed.

Once I cut out my pocket I moved to the fun part with the Cricut. Any vinyl cutter could do. But I do like the cricut. I moved to the computer and started designing the wording to be used on the pocket. Because I use the Cricut we have access to the Cricut Design Space software. I have access to many fonts and designs free of charge. There are also many inexpensive designs available also. Thanks to the Cricut design space, I was able to choose a cool font and design the wording for my mom’s phone holder.

Using t-shirt vinylvinyl, I cut out a small rectangle and set it on the cutting mat. I then loaded the mat to the Cricut, and set the indicator to vinyl and had it to start cutting out the label. While the machine cuts the vinyl. I pre press the pocket cutout in the heat press to get out any wrinkles and any moisture. This is done to ensure the finished result comes out properly. Peeling of the vinyl backing I weeded the excess vinyl out of the way.

I then attached the label to the pocket to get it centered. After verifying it is perfectcut letters. I press the vinyl into the pocket using a heat press. We typically use this press for t-shirts, but this project will also do.

After the vinyl is pressed into the pocket, the pocket is inserted into the embroidery hoop and secured. As mentioned previously, if there is excess material surrounding the pocket in the embroidery hoop, it can now trimmed as needed. After all the trimming, the phone holder can be hung just like a photo frame. I personally would use a hook, angled up to securely anchor the cell phone frame.almost finished
