Are you looking for ways to keep craft time with your children simple and fun while making easy crafts for kids? If so, I hope you will put some of the following ideas to use.  You will also find some of my favorite crafts that I have come across.

1. Find the easy crafts for kids you want to set up and make.  Then make a list of all the supplies you will need to make accomplish your goal..

This is an obvious winner for the number one slot. If you want to keep it simple and fun, it needs to be something simple, fun and interesting. If the activities wont hold their attention. You will pay the price in chaos. OK maybe that is a bit dramatic. It won’t be enjoyable in the least.

My kids need an activity that will hold there attention for at least thirty minutes.  If its interesting we can stretch that to an hour if we’re lucky.  Here is a great craft to try out. http://creatingcreatives.com/

2. If you do not have everything on hand add the supplies you need to your shopping list so you will not forget them.

By chance that you have everything on hand, you are a giant step ahead. If not just take a breath and make your list. This just might be the most peaceful part of the activity.  When you have a chance to get out and shop while your significant other watches the kids. Another great spring craft to add to the list is this one from typicallysimple.com/

3. Does the craft you have chosen have the potential to be messy?  If so make preparations accordingly now. Put a plastic table cloth down where you will be crafting. Even if you aren’t planning a messy craft. These are kids we are dealing with here. The odds of them making a mess is very high.  They will always find a way to make a mess.  Be prepared ahead of time and cleanup will be a breeze.   The plastic will make clean up a lot easier and quicker for you.  This craft is a great idea that is for the younger ones from rainydaymum.co.uk

4. As with any major undertaking you need to have a plan in place. Just as stated above you need to know what you are going to do before hand and when you need to do it.   Everything needs to be organized ahead of time. I’ll say it again, if you don’t. You will pay the price in a headache and chaos. Just have all supplies laid out before you announce its craft time to your kids.   Everything will run a lot smoother.  This craft is a good one to use for the next budding artist in your house.    www.easypeasyandfun.com

5. Use non-toxic paints, and glues in your easy crafts for kids.

This is really common sense here folks. Just use everything non toxic. Do your research and know which products you can trust. Your kids health and well being are the most important thing here. You should play with your children and your health.  There is a blog I wrote about here with a special finger paint.   You wont have to worry about your young ones using this finger paint. Check it out  at crafts with toddlers.

6. Once again I can’t stress enough about being prepared.  Now is the time to prepare for the soon to come messes. Have wet wipes and paper towels handy for spills. Because be assured that messes and spills will come.  The whole key to how they’re handled depends on you and your prep work.  Now for another great craft to try out with your little ones.  Check out this one from  diycandy.com

7. Always try to have extra supplies in case something is lost, torn or destroyed.  Expect the unexpected and plan ahead. Memories are being made here and we want them to be as joyful as possible.  When they get older you can all laugh over the chaotic memories that you shared together.  They will always remember the effort and time you put in preparing these easy crafts for kids.  The main thing they will always remember is the time you spent with them.  Another great one to try out at   forcreativejuice.com

8. Let them wear old clothes so you will not be stressed out over ruining what they are wearing.

Even though you are using non toxic materials. It doesn’t mean that they can’t stain or destroy their clothing.  I can give my son a new shirt and it can be stained and or destroyed within the hour. Be prepared and plan ahead for every conceivable problem.  Try this activity from  sunlitspaces.com

9.Show the kids how to do the craft but let them do it in their own way.

If you insist on it being perfect then you might as well do the craft yourself and forget about having craft time with the kids. It also makes the children think that everything has to be perfect and that their best is not good enough.  Let them do their best and give them praise and encouragement for their finished project.  Sometimes little hands need help.  Know when to help but you know you have gone too far when you are the only one left at the craft table.  www.icanteachmychild.com

10.Have fun! Don’t worry about a little paint on their hands & faces, take pictures instead.

If you planned well and didn’t stress too much, your activity will be judged a success. You kids will always judge it a success when they get your undivided attention.

Now that your big activity is over you can go take a well deserved nap. You know you deserve it after the raging craft you just shared with your kids.   When you wake up you get to start planning your next craft.  This is more of a family craft with kid inspiration.  www.theunlikelyhomeschool.com

I hope you will try these suggestions for a stress free craft time with your children. Show them how to have fun, they will learn how to be stressed out way too soon anyway.
